HORFIELD SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Chairs Report 2017-2018
As an entirely new board of trustees this year, our main aim has been to try and continue the amazing work and success of the previous committee.
We have had a year with lots of fantastic events and whilst consolidating on the previous events' successes we have tried new and different ways to fund raise for our school. From the weekly red shed sales to cake sales, numerous fairs, used uniform, ceilidh, Melody Makers choir music night and a silent auction.
As a result of the monies that we have raised over the past year, and previous years, we have been able to purchase for the school things which we hope will enhance the children's learning experiences, and make their time at Horfield memorable. For example we have purchased new netball posts, digital microscopes, football kit, cameras as well as many other things.
We used the Usborne book pledge scheme to raise over £1,800 which was spent on new books for every class in the school as well as allowing us to add lots of new titles to our library.
We gave every child a book at Christmas and all Year 6 leavers were given a memory stick with the school logo on.
The past few years we (Horfield) have achieved some fantastic accolades, from National Literacy School of the Year to Platinum Arts Mark to one of our teachers being shortlisted (to the final two) in the Bristol Post "Teacher of the Year Awards" - all of which is an amazing achievement not only for them but a real testament to the effort and ambition of all involved in our school and which can only continue with the dedication, commitment and support of the staff, parents, children and us SA.
This year we have big plans, already with lots of events booked in and are very much looking forward to what it will bring with all your help.
